Las Hoces de Cabriel Natural Park
The Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park is located in the southwestern corner of the Plana de Utiel-Requena region, where the Cabriel River acts as a natural border between the Valencian territory and the Castilian-Manchegan provinces of Cuenca and Albacete and as the backbone of this rich natural space. It was declared a natural park in 2005. With 31,446 ha, it is the largest natural park in the Valencian Region. The park extends over the towns of Villargordo del Cabriel, Venta del Moro and Requena.
The Contreras Reservoir is located between the municipalities of Villargordo del Cabriel in the province of Valencia and La Pesquera, Mira, Enguídanos and Minglanilla in the province of Cuenca.
Contreras Reservoir
Located between the provinces of Cuenca and Valencia, it is 36 kilometres long and has a capacity of 361 hm3. Its construction dates back to the 1960s and would involve the transfer of numerous populations that inhabited the lands that would be completely covered by water and that back in the 16th century, enjoyed historical importance since characters such as Charles V have passed through the so-called Pajazo inn next to the bridge of the same name designed by Pere Comte, the same architect as the “Lonja of Valencia”.
Currently, the Contreras reservoir supplies thousands of hectares of rice fields and orange trees that surround the Júcar-Turia canal and determines the supply of the city of Valencia. The Contreras hydroelectric dam is among the five highest in Spain, exceeding 139 m in height.
In recent years it has been promoted as a highly valuable tourist resource, since it allows us to enjoy different water activities in its turquoise blue waters, in a landscape that integrates nature and progress.

Land of wine and cava
We are in the heart of a region with a deep-rooted winemaking tradition. The DO Utiel-Requena is clear proof of the maturity and evolution of a sector that has positioned itself at the forefront of producing high-quality wines and cavas. The land and climate, with Mediterranean features but with continental influences, make Utiel-Requena wines special, especially the red and rosé wines made with the Bobal red variety.
It is advisable to visit the numerous wine and cava wineries that are located a few kilometres from our campsite. We can manage this wine tourism activity from our facilities.
